How can I make a payment to my credit card from a Bank of America ® account or another financial institution?

You can pay your credit card in any of several convenient ways.

On our website:
Log in to Online Banking and select the Bill Pay tab, then follow the instructions.

If you're paying your bill from an account at another financial institution, select the Manage Pay To/Pay From Accounts link from the Bill Pay menu, then select the Add Pay From Account button and follow the instructions (you'll need your bank's 9-digit routing number and your account number in order to set up the Pay From account).

You can also transfer money from your Bank of America checking or saving account to your Bank of America credit card. To do this, select the Transfer | Send tab, then select Between My Accounts At Bank of America and follow the instructions provided in the Make a Transfer tab.

On your mobile device
Log in to the Mobile Banking app and select your credit card account, then select the Make a payment button.

You can also tap the Erica icon and say, "I want to pay my credit card" then follow the instructions (if you prefer, you can also type your message to Erica).

At a financial center or ATM
Drop off your payment at any Bank of America financial center or make a payment at one of our ATMs. To pay at an ATM using checks or cash, insert your credit card into the ATM, then select Make a Payment and follow the instructions (please note that payments to business credit cards are not supported at ATMs at this time).

By phone
Call 800.236.6497. There is no fee to make a payment by phone.

If I make my credit card payment online, when will my payment post to my account?

If you pay your Bank of America ® credit card account from a Bank of America checking or savings account, any funds transferred as a payment to the credit card account before 11:59 p.m. ET, including weekends and holidays, will be credited on the date the payment is made. However, updates to account balances and funds availability may take up to 2 bank business days.

If you pay your Bank of America credit card from a checking or savings account with another financial institution, your payment will be requested as an electronic transfer within 24 hours from the time you submit it online. A debit will appear on your checking account and on your credit card statement online within 2 business days.

How can I check my credit card account balance?

You can quickly check your credit card balance on our website or on your mobile device.

Log in to the Mobile Banking app and select your credit card account, or you can set up the My Balance™ feature to view account balances without signing in to the app.

How can I get a copy of my credit card statement?

You can easily access your credit card statements on our website or on your mobile device.

On our website
Log in to Online Banking and navigate to your credit card Account details page, then select the Statements & Documents tab. You'll have access to your credit card statements and also be able to request paper statements.

On your mobile device
Log in to the Mobile Banking app and select your credit card account, then select the Statements & Documents link in the Account Management section. After selecting a statement (and depending on the specific apps and settings on your phone), you can download, print and email your statement.

You can also tap the Erica icon and say, “I want to see my credit card statements” and follow the instructions (if you prefer, you can also type your message to Erica).

How can I stop receiving my paper statement?

You can easily manage your paperless settings on our website or on your mobile device.

On your mobile device
Log in to the Mobile Banking app and select your credit card account. Select the Statements & Documents link in the Account Management section, then select the Paperless Settings link.

You can also tap the Erica icon and say, “I want to go paperless” and follow the instructions (if you prefer, you can also type your message to Erica).

What do I do if I don't recognize the merchant listed on my statement?

Some merchants may bill under a name other than their operating name or bill from a state different from where you made your purchase. If you still have questions about the transaction, please contact the merchant directly.

What are eBills?

Think of eBills as electronic versions of your paper bills. You may need to add the account you are trying to pay as a payee before requesting eBills. To do this, select Payment Center from the Bill Pay tab, then Add a Company or Person and follow the instructions provided. If eBills are available from your payee, you can request eBills in log in to Online Banking or by using our Mobile Banking app. Once you are logged into your account, select Bill Pay, select Request eBills under the payee which you are trying to pay and follow the instructions.

How will I know my eBill is ready?

You'll receive an email every time a new eBill is ready to view online. You can also log in to Online Banking or use our Mobile Banking app to view and pay your eBills.

How can I cancel my eBill?

Log in to Online Banking or use our Mobile Banking app to view your eBills and cancel your eBill service.

How long will my eBill statement be available for viewing?

eBill statements are available in Online Banking and our Mobile Banking app for 24 months.

What can I do if I have financial difficulty making payments?

Can I use my Bank of America ® credit card to make payments in Bill Pay?

No, this feature is not available for credit cards. You can, however, use Online Banking to set up one-time payments, schedule future payments or create recurring payments from your checking, money market savings account, SafeBalance Banking® account or from your Home Equity Line of Credit. How do I set up automatic payments for my credit card?

To set up automatic payments you need to be enrolled in eBills, which are electronic versions of your credit card bill. To confirm, check that eBills is on in the Bill Pay tab. If not, select Request eBills and follow instructions.

Note: You may need to add the credit card as a payee to your account before requesting eBills. To do this, select Payment Center from the Bill Pay tab, then Add a Company or Person and follow the instructions provided.

In the mobile app:
If you have and are paying from your Bank of America checking account, proceed to the “Set up…” section. (Adding external accounts must be done online.)

If paying from an account with another bank:

  1. Log in and select Bill Pay.
  2. Under Manage, select Add/Edit Accounts from Other Banks. Confirm the account you'd like to use is shown as active. If not, proceed to the next step to add the account.
  3. Select Add Account and enter the requested information.

Set up your automatic payment with eBills:

  1. Log in, select Bill Pay and locate the credit card account you'd like to set automatic payments up on.
  2. Select Add AutoPay in the AutoPay section then select Based on eBill's amount and due date.
  3. Select your Pay From account, Amount, and Deliver by date on which you'd like the payment sent then select Save.
  4. You will receive a confirmation. (*If already enrolled in eBills, see special note below.)

From your computer:
If paying from your Bank of America checking account, proceed to the “Set up…” section.

If paying from an account with another bank:

  1. Log in to Online Banking, hover over the Bill Pay tab and select Manage accounts.
  2. Select the Other Pay From Accounts tab. Confirm the account you'd like to use is shown as active. If not, proceed to the next step to add the account.
  3. Select Add a Pay From account you own at another institution and enter the requested information about your account with the other institution.

Set up your automatic payment with eBills:

  1. Log in, select Bill Pay tab and locate the credit card account you'd like to set automatic payments up on.
  2. Click the AutoPay link next to the company and bill, select Set Up AutoPay, then Set Up Based on the eBill.
  3. Select your Pay From account, Amount and Deliver by date on which you'd like the payment sent. Select Start Sending Payments.
  4. You will receive a confirmation. (*If already enrolled in eBills, see special note below)

Special note: If you're already receiving eBills when statement-based automatic payments are set up, you will need to pay your current eBill manually. Automatic payments will begin when you receive your next eBill.
